2008 Midget State Tournament-Danville

On Saturday March 15th and Sunday March 16th, the Mt. Zion Kids Wrestling Club sent six wrestlers to the MidgetState tournament in Danville, Illinois. This team of 8, 9 and 10 year old kids completed against 147 teams throughout Illinois with only six wrestlers the team placed 55th overall.  The kids did a great job in Danville. The wrestlers competing in Danville were: Elliot Geisler-64lbs., Jeric Longfellow-66lbs., Robert Bennett-70lbs., Jacob Morgan-89lbs., Zack Stroud wrestled-115lbs., and Ryan Scharf-115lbs. Every Mt. Zion wrestler won at least 1 match and Jacob Morgan and Zach Stroud came one match away from placing in the top 8.  Ryan Scharf made it to the medal round placing 1st in the 115lbs weight division. Congratulations to all of the Midgets that wrestled in the state tournament and made a great showing for the Mt. Zion Kids Wrestling Club.  We hope to see all of the wrestlers back next season for other great year with the Mt. Zion Wrestling Club.
