Last year, while conducting combat operations against anti-Iraqi forces in the Al-Anbar province of Fallujah Iraq: Chad was seriously injured when the Humvee he was in was hit with an IED (improvised explosive device). During this attack Chad sustained an amputation of the right leg above the knee, a broken left ankle, and shrapnel wounds to his right leg, right arm and face.
